Wi-Fi overview:

Wi-Fi (short for wireless fidelity) is a wireless Local Area Network (LAN) technology that enables laptops, personal computers, PDA’s, and other devices to easily connect to the internet. Technically known as IEEE 802.11b, Wi-Fi is cheaper and faster than standard Ethernet cable and other common wire based LAN technologies.

Perhaps the best known example of wireless technology is the cellular telephone. A Wi-Fi enabled device such as a personal computer, mobile phone, games console or PDA can connect to the Internet when within the range of a wireless network connected to the Internet.

A Wireless Media Streamer can be thought of as an extension of wireless technology in the home.

A wireless media streamer lets you watch PC based music, videos, or pictures — on your television via your home wireless network.

Media streaming wireless devices are well established. For example, both Pinnacle and D-Link have been selling streaming hardware for some time.

You can watch downloaded material on your TV or view your photos arranged into a digital slide show. Wireless media streamers support most network music, picture and video players.
